Mountain Waters Resort in Portland Creek, Newfoundland
Account photo "Typical camp ground..... "......   We stayed at Ruston a few weeks ago and found most of the experience pretty good The only real beef I had was the handful of people who make it clear they've been there a while and roam up and down the streets like they own the place. Sorry, I just have a very low tolerance for stupid people. Other than the park bullies its actually a very nice place and provides great activities for the kids. We will be back.

Wrights Beach Camp in Penticton, British Columbia
Account photo "Wouldn't book there again"......   Booked at the campground with 3 sites boked. One person had to cancel because they got diagnosed with cancer and would be having surgery - they called more than 30 days in advance and the campground kept their $200 deposit. Maybe having a doctors note saying that you would be in surgery could get around the 45 day cancellation policy? nope. Other 2 campers continued on to the sites. One site was too small for the size of camper they had and so asked to be moved. The second camper wasn't at the campground yet so they called the campground and asked to be moved beside the unit that had just moved and when they were checking out noticed that they were charged $25 to move sites. Emailed the owner with complaints on their policies and he has a 'we need to make money however we can' attitude.

Rideau Acres Camping Resort in Kingston, Ontario
Account photo "Rideau Acres Campground a disappointment!!"......   Booked this site based on the web site and left feeling greatly misled! We booked a site along with 3 other families and we booked sites all side by side. When we arrived to check-in, our site was given to another camper, without any explanation as to why since we had requested that site specifically and it was done over the phone to ensure we had it. We ended up with a site about 2 sites over. The lack of washroom facilities for the size of this campground is atrocious! EIGHT toilets for probably over 1000 campers!! And the bathrooms did not have soap dispensers. We were on what is called the "Back Forty trail" which is probably the most private area in the whole grounds, but it was a 3-4 minute walk to the washrooms. We did however have access to an outhouse right across from our site which we thought was lucky but in the 36 hours we were there, it was not serviced/emptied and by the time we left, the hole was literally filled to the brim. Toilet paper was actually sitting right near the top of the seat! Not to mention the smell that would waft from the outhouse to ours and surrounding sites. The grounds are filled with trailers/permanent mobile homes which is nice if you want to be in a 'mini-city' but with all those trailers dumping their septic tanks into the underground system, the smell of poop was always in the air. Then there was the 'beach' that we thought would be fabulous for our kids. There was no sand, it was dirt. Dirt that you would not want to lay a towel on and sun yourself. Also, the lake water was so clouded with seaweed and 'stuff' floating around, you felt like you needed to be decontaminated. Fortunately there was access to an onsite pool! But the pool filled pretty quick given how unpleasant the beach area was. There were campers waiting in line to go in the pool. It was crowded in the pool and it was unpleasant waiting to get in and cool off. The lifeguards were also not, in my opinion, completely trustworthy nor competent. There is a diving board and there were some pretty crazy stunts being done off that board with no lifeguard monitoring those getting out of the way before the next diver. This was overall a very disappointing experience and for the $36(approx.) spent for a site with no service (i.e. no electricity/water), it was not worth it. Our friends and us will not be returning to Rideau Acres and I would caution others with young kids and those planning on 'tenting' it, to seek another site with cleaner, newer and better serviced facilities.

Account photo "WOW Camping..Nothing WOW about it!!!"......   The owners of this campground are unprofessional, inconsiderate and uncaring. They only are looking for the $$$$. They pretend they have the campground patrons best interest at heart. But that is a facade!!!! They double book, put you on others peoples sites, demand you move or leave, make children cry...and offer nothing in return. AWFUL...AWFUL...AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Account photo "No privacy at all"......   If you are looking for a private camp ground to setup a tent, this is NOT it! No privacy at all. People were walking through our site to get to theirs and they were tripping over our tent tie downs. It was like caming in your front lawn. This place reminded me of the trailer park boys. People were zooming around on their golf carts.

Camerons Beach Trailer Park in Iroquois Falls, Ontario
Account photo "Not what you would think"......   The campground is very small and tight. Good luck getting through with a big rig. The lake is called Big Nellie. What a joke. It is a pond. I put my boat in and went to go for a drive and do some fishing, but, you are at the end of the lake by the time you get your hook in the water. There is a man made sandy beach, but, there is a lot of weeds in the water. I would not go back.

Account photo "AWFUL!!!!!!!! NOT FOR KIDS AT ALL!!!!"......   Very BIG disappointment - #1 Wading pool is closed for the summer of 2012 and if I had known that I would never have gone there in the first place. Parks are from the 70's, wobbly and unsafe and one in the total sun. Staff are horrible rude "uhhhh I don't know" teenagers, no lifegaurd, but a pool attendand who will hog a whole table with umbrella and chairs and be very put off to actually do something rather than text, like maybe her job????? Of cleaning the grass in the pool. Awful for kids, Not sure why people even go there.

Account photo "Canada Day disaster"......   I can not see anybody giving this place a 5 star rating. Went on Canada Day long weekend and what a disaster it was. It started bad from the start. I own a 12' tent trailer. They booked me into a "TENT SITE" with no power or water, plus my trailer wouldn't fit. So they moved me into the back of my friends site, so we had to 2 large trailers on one small site. The bathrooms are so out dated and badly lite at night time and started flooding with raw sewage by the end of the weekend. The crafts for the kids kept getting canceled because they didnt have the supplies ready for the activies. They still charged me full price for a site i didnt have and wouldnt offer a refund. The wood was bad rotten and wet. NOW FOR THE WORST PART.... THE FIREWORKS DISASTER. Thanks to this campground my son and the other children with us are all now afraid of them. The WOW campground didnt set up the fireworks saftly and when they started the show some of the fireworks started shooting into the large crowd of families with childeren. People were screaming and running for safety. The show was canceled an YES A PERSON WAS BURNED BY ONE OF THE FIREWORKS. Please dont bother with this place until they cleanup their act and the pool as the water was GREEN in colour ...gross.

Account photo "Loved it very much! Great people, Lots to do.."......   We just got back stayed Canada day weekend of 2012, I have to say this campground was a very great, I highly recomend it to everyone. There was so much to do for the kids and adults. Recreation was amazing they have a pool, park, hay ride, concerts, and more. My kids were busy all weekend and came home ready to sleep for a week lol. The staff were absolutly amazing... Effie you are so sweet, thank you everything you did, My husband and I and a few others ended up with food poison on sunday :( however the staff were so very sweet to ensure we had gravol, and all medication we needed to make us feel better, and seemed to be concerned. If you read this "THANK YOU ALL" The site was great, and the people are so friendly. I have to say of all things i was very impressed with was the cleanliness and highly maintained bathrooms and camp sites, the place is very well taken care of.. As for wanting to leave the campground we had no problems at all, we were able to come and go no questions asked. I can go on and on about how happy i was with this camping ground but im sure you get it. all i can say is "W.O.W".. THANK YOU WILD OPEN WILDERNESS, I am looking forward to many more stays. lots of hugs...

Account photo "Horrible"......   Only for Party People. This campground does not cater to those looking for a quiet relaxing trip. The torrent of offensive language that greeted my young family was unfortunate. Further the staff did not seemed concerned by the behavior of fellow campers. This is a evidently a great spot to get drunk and swear profusely. So if that is what you are into, fill your boots.

Account photo "Bring lots of cash"......   This campground is crazy, the price they want for everything. Don't have too many kids because they will charge you for that. Peddle carts are a crazy price, to have a decent sized fire it could cost you $40 for firewood. The prices on everything is nuts and the campground is nothing special.

Cardinal KOA in Cardinal, Ontario
Account photo "KOA---Jekyll and Hyde syndrom"......   If you want a place for your family to have fun from the hours of 8am to 9pm. This is the place. However if you are an adult and plan on having fun outside around the fire once the kids are in bed.....STAY AWAY!!!! The owner routinely comes to your sight to tell you that you are too loud and he can hear you from his office!!! And if he hears you agin he dump a pail of water on your fire. I of course experienced this first hand, and my family and I have been camping for 10 plus years without a problem. The next morning I approached the people who were next to us and appologized for being so loud. They both asked what we were talking about...I told them the story. They were both dumbfounded. In fact since it was such a nice night, they had left their windows open in their trailer, with thier 3 children inside, and they did not hear a thing!!! Try the campsite. But be warned, once it gets dark, you will see Mr. Hyde limping down the road looking to have a confrontation with even the quietest people. Parents work hard and when they get a chance to sit out by the fire and have a grown up talk amongst themselves, they should not be punished by having to sit so close to fire and whisper, or be threatened to have your fire put out!!! BRUTAL!!!!
"So if you want fun for the family from 8 to 2100 try it. However, shut your sight down come 9-10 pm. Mr. Hyde comes out!!!!"

Account photo "don't waste your time and money here"......   This was the worst place ever. They charged for children, the sites were limited and extremely close together. No privacy and the host were rude. The mini golf and play grounds are in need of major fixing up and the showers were not clean. Garbage bins to put your garbage in were so small. $39/night plus children, and they want you to pay for dumping fee! stay away, save your money.

Account photo The staff at this park are terrible to deal with. Very unfriendly and discourteous. Specifically we had the displeasure of dealing with a Nolan Vallery who mentioned a few times he "owned the place". He was extremely rude in our dealings with him and said if we don't like what he had to say we don't have to come back. He said he "had 45 people on a waiting list" and we could always camp somewhere else. Obviously we will be camping elsewhere in the future!

Jay Lake Campground and RV Park in Minden, Ontario
Account photo "Needs Improvement!"......   Unless and until this campground improves their basic water lines, this park will get faiing grades. Clean enough as a rule, and with both a beach and a swimming pool as a big draw, you would think the owners would insist that the other facilities be "up to snuff." But between inconsistent water service, cool pool, and owners that have proved to be both rude and unpredicatble, this park leaves much to be desired.Keep looking....

Pinehurst Lake Conservation in Ayr, Ontario
Account photo "Awesome!"......   We've been camping at Pinehurst for 3 years. We drive around to look at other campgrounds, but have not found any that we would like as much as Pinehurst. Pinehurst Conservation area is beautiful! There are so many trees - which is important to us when camping. The washrooms and showers are always very clean. The nature trails are pretty. Most of the campsites have lots of room and privacy. The staff are always really friendly and helpful. The beach area is always clean. The pavillions are great for large get togethers,(there are 3 of them). There are canoe and paddle boat rentals, and playgrounds for younger kids. All camping areas are radio free - which we really enjoy - you can listen to music with headphones but you don't have to hear other people's music. They also have a snack bar by the beach and there is a variety store / gas station that is beside the park - there is a path to it from the park. I didn't want to write this review because l want to always be able to get a campsite, but we have had so much enjoyment there that l feel that the park deserves this review.

Look Off Family Camping Park in Canning, Nova Scotia
Account photo "Great May 24th weekend!"......   We took our new hybrid camper to this campground and you couldn't find friendlier owners and campers. We are used to dry camping but this time hooked into electricity and water. Washrooms were spotless, campgrounds clean and it was only half filled. Lots of nice nooks and crannies for tents and pop ups which we used to have.Cafe food was great and owner cooked our fish and chips herself as we arrived late and the cook was gone. Wonderful playground for young kids as you can see them from your sites. Very little movement of cars in the part, quiet at night except for the June bugs! Would recommend this campground for anyone who camps and the lookoff is an extra bonus.

Laurel Creek Conservation Area in Waterloo, Ontario
Account photo "Quiet and Relaxing"......   I've been to this park as a seasonal camper for three years and love it. They have a beach area that sometimes has too many geese for my taste, but the water is generally in good condition for swimming. Lots of pavillions, sports fields, and washroom facilities. Canoe rentals are also available. But what I like most are the trails. Hours can be spent walking / hiking without repeat. There are much fewer camping sites than in other parks and the sites are large - with lots more privacy than i've had elsewhere. My kids are getting older so I may have to look elsewhere for a campground with more planned activities but there is nothing bad to say about this park.
